I’ve pressed publish on my creative essay and short story series.
It’s called Survival is an Instinct.
It’s about over coming trauma, rebuilding and ultimately surviving.
What does that mean?
No day is the same, meaning is a construct and your mind can really play with your perception of reality, whether you suffer from a mental illness or not.
Sometimes, survival isn’t a choice. Sometimes you don’t have the forethought and heart to put into place the recovery building blocks required to rebuild your future. Sometimes, everything is just a raw response to external stimuli. Sometimes, survival is an instinct.
Part personal essay, part short story series, Survival is an Instinct reflects on my journey to date with mental health recovery; and the healing powers of creativity and community.
