Supporting the wellbeing of early career talent
About this Event
Join us for this engaging and practical South East Scotland CIPD Well-being group event exploring how organisations can better support the wellbeing, development and long-term success of employees entering the workforce, while maintaining appropriate levels of challenge, accountability and performance.
Moving beyond generational stereotypes, this session will focus on the realities of transitioning into work and the important relationship between wellbeing, manager behaviour and organisational culture. Together, we will explore how psychological safety, belonging, confidence, feedback and development opportunities can help early-career colleagues build resilience, grow professionally and make a meaningful contribution within their organisations.
The session will be facilitated by Michelle Ruvimbo, a Learning and Organisational Development professional, registered nurse, coach and CIC founder with a passion for supporting people at the beginning of their careers. Drawing on her experience working with apprentices, young professionals and newly qualified practitioners, Michelle will bring practical insights and thought-provoking discussion on wellbeing, confidence, professional identity and future leadership.
Designed for HR, L&D and People professionals, as well as students, this interactive session combines evidence-informed thinking with practical workplace application. Through facilitated discussions and breakout activities, attendees will have the opportunity to share experiences, learn from peers and gain fresh perspectives that can be applied within their own organisations.

Speaker's bio
Michelle Ruvimbo is a Learning and Organisational Development professional, registered nurse, coach and CIC founder passionate about developing people from the very beginning of their careers.
Her work sits at the intersection of early-career development, wellbeing, professional identity and future leadership. Drawing on experience supporting young people, apprentices throughout their development journeys, and newly qualified nurses and health visitors transitioning into professional practice, Michelle understands the critical role organisations play in shaping confidence, belonging and capability early on.
She challenges the traditional approach of developing leaders only when they reach management, advocating instead for intentional investment in people from entry point onwards. Her work explores how organisations can create environments where emerging talent can thrive, build a strong professional identity and develop the foundations for future leadership.
Through coaching, education, leadership development and organisational practice, Michelle brings an authentic, practical and future-focused perspective to conversations about people, wellbeing and the next generation of leaders.
