About this Event

Support for Victim-Survivors of Abuse with No Recourse to Public Funds

Stonewater, through its BME Domestic Abuse Capacity Building Programme, proudly presents a workshop led by Southall Black Sisters on No Recourse to Public Funds (NRPF) and its profound impact on victim-survivors of abuse.

Join us to gain a better understanding of the challenges faced by victim-survivors subject to NRPF and discuss potential routes to safety.

Event Details:

Individuals subject to the NRPF rule face significant barriers in accessing emergency accommodation and public support due to their insecure immigration status. These restrictions prevent them from claiming housing benefit, income support, and other state benefits, leaving them with dire choices: between domestic abuse and destitution and/or deportation.

Workshop Content:

This workshop, facilitated by Southall Black Sisters, will cover:

The impact of NRPF on victim-survivors of domestic abuse.

Challenges and barriers faced by victim-survivors with NRPF.

Insights from Southall Black Sisters' advocacy and campaigns on extending eligibility under the Domestic Violence Indefinite Leave to Remain Rule (DVILR) and the Migrant Victims of Domestic Abuse Concession (MVDAC, formerly the Destitute Domestic Violence Concession or DDVC).

Routes to safety for victim-survivors with NRPF.

Tackling the anti-migrant rhetoric and the hostile environment.

Who Should Attend:

This event is open to all individuals with NRPF status from marginalised and minority communities who can benefit from the discussion and support. We extend a special invitation to professionals working in the fields of domestic abuse, immigration, social work, and related sectors.

Why Attend:

Gain a deeper understanding of the NRPF issue and its implications.

Learn about current campaigns and strategies aimed at protecting victim-survivors of abuse.

Discover ways to support and advocate for the rights of those with insecure immigration status.

Network with professionals and individuals dedicated to making a difference.

Registration:

Please register your attendance through Eventbrite to secure your place. We look forward to your participation in this important discussion facilitated by Southall Black Sisters.
