About the Speaker - Yelena Mogelefsky
Yelena Mogelefsky is a veteran of the fashion industry with over 20 years’ experience. Chances are you’ve probably worn (if not, currently wearing) some of her clothes. Her illustrious career started after she graduated from The Fashion Institute of Technology with a BS in International Trade and Marking. She was immediately hired by a children’s apparel company where her keen sense of fashion and drive helped propel that line forward. Yelena continued to develop her own sense of style and direction at Li& Fung and Hanes Brand Inc., before becoming Director of Product Development and Sourcing at Foot Locker. At Foot Locker, Yelena led the charge for sourced products in several high-profile product categories including shoes, belts, cold weather accessories and apparel.
Today, as the Senior Vice President of Sourcing and Production at Komar Brands Intimates Division, Yelena manages a vast team of employees in New York, Hong Kong, and Bangladesh. Her vision and management style has helped Komar Brands retain their standing as the U.S. industry leader in sourcing and distribution of sleepwear, intimates, kids and layering brands. Recently her role expanded to include sustainability and traceability initiatives.
In addition to her professional accomplishments, Yelena is an adjunct professor at The Fashion Institute of Technology, teaching in the ITM department. When she is not traveling and sourcing production from countries like China, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, Pakistan, and Peru, Yelena is busy managing and caring for her two children and husband.
