A summer paddling day with your T1D communityGet on the water this summer with your Type 1 diabetes community for a fun, easygoing paddle around Toronto Island! Whether you’ve always wanted to try something new or you’re already comfortable on the water, this day event is all about exploring, connecting, and spending time outside with others who understand what it’s like to manage T1D in motion.
We’ll meet at the ferry terminal, take the short ride over to the island together, and then head into the calm channels for an afternoon of paddling. You can choose from stand-up paddleboards (SUP), kayaks, or canoes — and there will be instructors and CIM guides on hand to help you feel confident before you set out. Bring a Support Crew member along or come solo — everyone moves at a relaxed pace, and the focus is on community, sunshine, and gentle adventure.
What to expect:
• A welcoming group of adults living with Type 1 diabetes + Support Crew
• Casual paddling on SUP, kayak, or canoe around Toronto Island
• A relaxed, low-pressure environment with support and guidance
• Time to connect with others, enjoy summer weather, and be on the water
