Sunset Swift Spectacle at Fountain Square
About this Event
Join Indiana Audubon for an evening of birds, city views, and swirling chimney swifts during this special urban birding event in downtown Indianapolis. We'll gather at the Rooftop Garden in Fountain Square to witness one of nature's most underrated aerial ballets as hundreds (sometimes thousands) of Chimney Swifts spiral into their roost at sunset.
Hosted by longtime Indy birder and conservationist Wes Homoya, this is a "Big Sit"-style birding hangout, laid back, highly watchable, and perfect for birders of all levels. We'll also talk urban bird behavior, swift conservation, and maybe even catch a Peregrine Falcon grabbing a pigeon dinner, Doordash style.
We will meet on Saturday, Sept. 5, at 7:30 p.m. ET at the Rooftop Garden in Fountain Square, Indianapolis. Sunset roosting begins shortly after, and full event details with parking info will be emailed to all registrants.
Note: Due to venue policies, all participants must be at least 21 years old to attend this event.
