Sunset Guided Hike

Join Se7en Wetlands for a 3.5 mile sunset guided hike! Each year cities from around the world collaborate to make nature observations during the City Nature Challenge! This international effort is an annual four-day event aimed at involving the community in documenting the nature they see around them. During this hike, we’ll focus on identifying plants and animals that we observe while we walk.

There is very little shade along the trail - please bring sun protection and water.

This hike is open to all ages - all participants must be able to hike over 3 miles unassisted on hard-packed, uneven, earthen trails.

Meeting Location (select location):

Meet at the Loyce E. Harpe Park Trail Head to Se7en Wetlands, located in the southeast corner of Polk County's Loyce E. Harpe Park. Follow the Se7en Wetlands trailhead signs to the gravel lot. Please note that it takes approximately 10 minutes to drive from the entrance of Loyce E. Harpe Park to the Se7en Wetlands Trail Head.

Guided Hike Information: (do not put bullet points, it makes it easier to transfer into Eventbrite without them)

• Guided hikes take place on uneven, hard-packed earthen trails
• Hikes and other events can take two to three (2-3) hours to complete
• All minors need to be accompanied by a parent/guardian
• Please wear sturdy, close-toe hiking shoes
• Bring plenty of water and a snack
• Bring any emergency first-aid medications you may need
• A hat, sunscreen, and insect repellant are recommended, especially in the summer months
• A set of binoculars and a camera are encouraged, but not mandatory
• There are no restrooms or water fountains on the trails, please use the facilities located at the trailheads
• Pets, bicycles, and fishing are not permitted
