F.W. Murnau's Sunrise is silent film at its most poetic. Made with an unlimited budget. Murnau's fast-paced tale of temptation and reconciliation beautifully captures both rural idyll and bustling city with an array of clever cinematic touches. On its release Sunrise was lauded as "a film masterpiece" by the New York Times, winning three Academy Awards. Sunrise is still considered one of the finest films ever made.
Wurlitza have added music that will be both familiar and unfamiliar, from Bach and Villa Lobas to Talking Heads, Echo and the Bunnymen, Madness and the Vapors, as well as some of their own. This is a truly unique and memorable experience, and great for all ages.
ABOUT WURLITZA:
Hailing from St Germans in South East Cornwall, Wurlitza have been enchanting audiences since 2006 with their distinctive live soundtracks. With keyboards, guitars, clarinet, bass, drums/percussion, and 5-part vocal harmonies, they bring a modern twist to classic silent films, seamlessly blending genres from different eras.
WHY YOU CAN’T MISS THIS:
• Unique Experience: Immerse yourself in the magic of live music complementing the silent film, creating an experience that transcends time.
• Critically Acclaimed Band: Wurlitza’s reputation precedes them, having graced the stage at Glastonbury Festival and earning acclaim for their innovative approach to silent film accompaniment.
