Sunny Bank Mills Heritage Festival Family & Accessible Tours 2026
About this Event
Hear the story of Sunny Bank Mills and the people who worked here on this 30 minute tour led by the former Head Designer from back when the Mills were still producing cloth. With first-hand experience and a deep knowledge of the site, she will bring its history vividly to life.
As you explore the accessible outdoor spaces, (contingency planned for bad weather), you’ll hear engaging and amusing anecdotes about the workers and their daily lives, suitable for adults and children alike.
Walking through the site today, you’re still moving through a place shaped by textile production — but also one shaped by people, their stories, and the lives they lived here.
The tour is suitable for buggies and wheelchairs. Please wear appropriate footwear if you plan to join the tour.
Starting from the Main Yard (by the old loom).
All proceeds from the tours will go towards preserving our Textile Museum & Archive.
Online booking closes 2 hours before each tour. Any available tickets on the day can be booked from the Gallery or Museum & Archive by cash or card (exact change only).
PLEASE NOTE – Wherever possible, the tour is flat or of a low gradient, however given the nature of the site, it will still involve some uphill walking.
If you have any questions or concerns about access, please email [email protected].
These tours are taking place as part of our 2026 Heritage Festival - a weekend celebrating heritage, art and culture at Sunny Bank Mills! Visit our website to see what else is happening across the weekend.
