Sundays @ 3 Presents Choral Evensong, a "service-as-concert" featuring music from the famous English Cathedral tradition sung by the Sanctuary Choir of Good Samaritan Church directed by Zachary Duell.This year, Choral Evensong will include the world premiere of specially commissioned new works for choir and organ by rising star British composer Kerensa Briggs. Described by the New York Times as "poignant . . . quietly devastating", Briggs' music has been performed in famous venues around the world, including Westminster Abbey and the Sistine Chapel. Her works have been recorded by leading choirs including VOCES8, The BBC Singers, and The Sixteen.
Choral Evensong will also include choral works and solo organ music by Harold Friedell, Herbert Howells, Percy Fletcher, and more.
Evensong is a worship tradition of the Episcopal Church and the wider Anglican Communion. All are welcome to attend and to engage in whatever way they wish -- simply sit back and enjoy the music as any other concert, or, participate in the sung prayers for peace and safety.
