Sunday Wine School with Jonathan: Cabernet Across Continents
About this Event
Everyone thinks they know Cabernet Sauvignon. It's the world's most planted red grape, the backbone of Bordeaux, the reason Napa became Napa. What most people haven't done is taste it side by side across four continents, which is where the grape stops being a single thing and starts telling you something about the ground it came from. In this class, Jonathan Ogden pours ten of them and lets the differences make the argument.
We'll skip the lecture and taste directly, so you can feel what climate, soil, and winemaking actually do to one grape. Along the way you'll pick up a few things that stick: why cool-climate Cabernet tastes green and warm-climate Cabernet tastes sweet, what tannin and structure feel like when you know what to look for, how blending changes a wine's shape, and how to tell whether a bottle wants five more years or tonight's steak.
During this two-hour class, we'll taste ten wines chosen to show the grape's full range, from restrained and savory to ripe, powerful, and built to age. Tuition is $75 per person. Class attendees will have access to preferred pricing on featured bottles following the tasting.
Please note: The Vintage on Harrison is not open on Sundays. The space will be open exclusively for this class. Light snacks will be provided; this is a tasting and educational experience rather than a full food service.
Expect great wines, clear explanations, and a lineup that covers serious ground. Whether you drink Cabernet every week or have been meaning to understand what all the fuss is about, you'll leave knowing which style is yours.
Relaxed, educational, and built to make a famous grape make sense.
