Suncatcher Workshop with Iida Palosuo

Meet with like-minded people; locals & internationals, enjoy a glass of authentic Italian wine or a cup of organic tea with bites in a relaxing atmosphere at our professional art studio in the heart of Amsterdam.

In the workshop, all participants get to design and make their very own art mobile / suncatcher. The price of the workshop includes all parts needed for a small suncatcher, instructions and help from Iida, packaging to bring the suncatcher home, as well as some refreshments to enjoy during the workshop.

How it works:

All participants start with a metal frame handmade by yours truly. The first step is to choose your favourites from a wide array of colourful, acrylic pieces, and use them to design the composition for your own art mobile / suncatcher. The mobile is then assembled with Iida's instructions and support. By the end of the workshop, you will have a lovely custom made suncatcher to bring home!
The story behind the suncatchers:

We are hosting Iida, a designer from Helsinki, Finland to give this concept workshop. For almost ten years, she have been designing and making Himmelis: traditional Finnish straw sculptures, that are hung in the ceilings of cottages around Christmas time. With her words: "I have loved the way these himmelis move, bringing a peaceful energy to a room. However, this past spring I wanted to keep experimenting with flying shapes, but expand to playing with mesmerizing colors and shiny pieces. I made the first laser-cut acrylic mobile in my home for myself, and loved the process of playing with shapes and colors so much, that I wanted to share that experience"

She has hosted several Suncatcher Workshops in Helsinki, and she would love to share the joy in Amsterdam as well! We hope you join us in this meditative craft, and create your own Suncatcher to bring idle joy to you too!

-What is included?
All materials, aprons and gloves are included as well as authentic Italian wine, organic tea, and bites.

If you cannot make it to this session, there are always upcoming sessions scheduled that you can see on our main page. We will continue organising them on Monday & Thursday evenings throughout the year.

It’s also possible to organise private in-group workshops and team activities at the studio or your place on your desired date & time.
