You may have heard the news, but for those who haven’t — 14 February isn’t just Valentine’s Day, it’s also a Saturday, which many know as “parkrun day.”Parkrun is a community event held every Saturday morning at 7:00am, attracting 200+ participants each week. What makes 14 February extra special is that Sunbury will be taking over parkrun, providing all the volunteers for the day. This is a great opportunity to raise awareness of our club within the community and attract players for the 2026 season.
The day will be led by U11 and U12 Girls Coach Daniel Nicholson, but he will need volunteers to support the event. All roles are simple, with brief descriptions below:
Timekeeper – Press a button on your phone as participants cross the finish line
Finish Tokens – Pass a token to each person crossing the finish line
Event Day Course Check – Get up early and walk the 5km course to ensure it is clear
Barcode Scanning – Scan participants’ barcodes and finish tokens using your phone
Marshal – Make sure people don’t get lost and direct them out on the course
Tail Walker – Walk with the person at the rear of the pack and support them to finish
Park Walker – Walk amongst the group and generate conversation
Photographer – Take photos on the course and at the finish line (phone photos are fine)
First Timers Welcome – Meet newcomers and provide details about the event
Even if you don’t want to volunteer, let’s fill the course with a sea of blue. Wear your club shirt, walk or run the course, and show Maryborough what a great club and community Sunbury is.
