Presented by the Ohio & Erie Canalway Coalition and Summit Metro Parks, the second annual Summit Lake Float welcomes community members to experience Summit Lake through water recreation, including kayaking, canoeing and pontoon boat rides!
Schedule of Activities
- Canoeing with Ohio & Erie Canalway Coalition at 8:00 a.m., 9:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. (registration required)
- Canoeing open house with Ohio & Erie Canalway Coalition at 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. (first-come, first-served)
- Kayaking with Summit Metro Parks at 8:00 a.m., 9:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. (registration required)
- Kayaking open house with Summit Metro Parks at 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. (first-come, first-served)
- Pontoon boat rides starting at 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. (first-come, first served rides)
But what's a summer float without a sweet treat? Root beer floats will be served at the event, while supplies last!
Registration for canoeing and kayaking opens June 1 at summitmetroparks.org/summit-lake-float-2
Check-in for this event will be located at the Summit Lake NorthShore Park at 540 W. South Street, Akron. Parking is available onsite through 9:00 p.m. Additional parking is located at the Summit Lake Community Center and Reach Opportunity Center across the Summit Lake Trail bridge. All participants will be required to fill out a waiver for each activity for which they choose to participate. Those under the age of 18 must have a parent/guardian file a waiver in-person and participate in the activity with them.
