About this Event
We hope that you will consider making a donation to the Society as we continue our mission to bring history within reach for all of Summit County. Please see the back of this card for ways to give this season.
The Women’s History Project of the Akron Area helped kick off our festivities by honoring the seven women of the DAR who signed the Society’s incorporation papers on July 12, 1924.
Denise Remark Lundell curated exhibits on weddings, Halloween Horror and Christmas at the Perkins Stone Mansion focused on the 100 theme. Displays at the John Brown House featured the Akron Black Artist Guild, Kwanzaa and Hanukkah.
Dave Lieberth and Judi Hill were the honorary chairs for 100th celebrations at House Three Thirty on July 12, 2024. I am grateful to all who attended and many who became Society Centennial Donors
Education and outreach continued to thrive with thousands of students participating in Society programming and tours. Those numbers will continue to grow when the Akron History Center opens downtown featuring many of the Society’s artifacts. This endeavor for Akron’s Bicentennial has been 40+ years in the making for Chairman Emeritus Dave Lieberth.
Talking about Akron’s Bicentennial, we can’t wait to share more details with you about our assistance on the Bicentennial Commission and the production of the Akron Bicentennial Magazine.
