Join us at the Student Union Building (SUB) Ballroom for a day filled with challenging cases, innovative solutions, and networking opportunities. Put your analytical skills to the test and compete against other talented students. This event is your chance to showcase your knowledge, creativity, and teamwork. About SUMMIT:
SUMMIT: The Economics Case Competition, will push the boundaries of conventional thinking. It will bring together the brightest minds from Simon Fraser University to tackle complex and multifaceted challenges. The competition will go beyond traditional case studies, delving into diverse areas such as technology, sustainability, entrepreneurship, and social impact. SUMMIT will include a case competition component and a networking portion. You can decide to compete or join us only for the networking portion of the event, competitors' tickets automatically include the networking portion as well.
Tickets Types:
- Competitor: Competitor tickets include case competition participation, and reception (with food and beverages). If you are signing up as a group all teammates must purchase tickets separately. Every teammate has to indicate a team name in the provided field (team name must be consistent across participants of the same team). If you do not have a team yet, you can sign up individually and we will add you to a team.
- Attendee: Attendee tickets include reception (with food and beverages). These are non-competing students who wish to see the team presentations.
- Judge: Judge ticket must be approved by ESS before purchase. Judges' tickets include case competition participation and reception (with food and beverages).
Competition Highlights:
Real-World Challenges: This year's case is inspired by real-world issues faced by organizations globally. Get ready to tackle pressing problems with creative solutions.
Interdisciplinary Approach: SUMMIT encourages cross-disciplinary collaboration. Build diverse teams to tackle complex problems from multiple angles.
Pitch to Industry Leaders: Present your solutions to a panel of esteemed judges, including industry leaders and academics.
Prizes:
1st Place Team: $400 cash prize, networking opportunities, and more!
2nd Place Team: $200 cash prize, networking opportunities, and more!
How to Participate:
Assemble your team of 3 – 5 people. You can also sign up individually and the ESS team will pair you up with other individual participants! Each team member must purchase a separate ticket.
The case study will be sent to the participants on November 8th at 12:00 pm. Competitors will have one week to prepare a presentation and deliver it on November 15th to a panel of judges. Participants are required to send the presentation to [email protected] by November 15th, 12:00 p.m. in PDF or PPT format. Any presentation sent after the deadline will not be accepted.
Note that you and your team will have 1 week to prepare for the competition.
