Working-class teenagers Harry (Lars Ekborg) and Monika (Harriet Andersson) escape their dreary lives on a boat to the Swedish archipelago. Over a passionate summer, they live off the land and escape the cares of the world, until Monika discovers that she’s pregnant and reality comes crashing in.
