For sixty years, the Grateful Dead have cast a strange and enduring spell, creating not just a vast songbook—shapeshifting through thousands of live performances and recordings—but a distinctly American tribe: a sprawling yet close-knit community drawn together by exploration, adventure, and the possibility of creating a world of their own outside the norms and constrictions of everyday life, united by the mystical power of music. Through the original band and its many later incarnations, Deadheads have carried that spirit across the country, following the music wherever it leads and forming bands, scenes, gatherings, and traditions of their own. As part of 7th House's SEE•SOUND series and in observance of the Days Between, the stretch from Jerry Garcia’s birthday on August 1 to his passing on August 9, DEAD DAY is a daylong celebration of the Grateful Dead and the enduring community that continues to carry their music and spirit forward.
The day includes a very rare screening of Tie-Died: Rock ’n Roll’s Most Deadicated Fans (1995), co-presented by Hollywood Entertainment—preceded by a Dead Vid Mix packed with classic clips and performances; the “Shakedown on Los Feliz Blvd” lot market presented by Blues for Sallah; plus food, bar, DJs, and special surprises. It all culminates with a screening of the new film Summer Tour, followed by a will-be-legendary live performance from revered and beloved hometown heroes Richard Pictures. Join us for a celebration of a community that keeps growing, where the Dead’s spirit keeps moving and the music never stopped.

As the headlining event of the daylong Dead Day celebration, 7th House joins forces with Utopia for a screening of their brand-new film SUMMER TOUR (2026), a lyrical, lovingly observed portrait of a new generation of Deadheads keeping the spirit of the road alive, preceded by an introduction by director Mischa Richter and followed by a grand finale live performance from RICHARD PICTURES, tearing through Dead classics and deep cuts with the impeccable musicianship and improvisational fire that have made them revered and beloved hometown heroes!
A poetic documentary, Summer Tour follows Jerry and Annie, a magnetic young couple devoted to the music and community of Dead & Company, as they crisscross America during the band’s 2023 farewell tour. Traveling from show to show, busking and selling clothes on the lot to keep themselves moving, they become our guides into a sprawling traveling village of young Deadheads—many born long after Jerry Garcia’s death—who have found in the music a community, a livelihood, and a way of life.
Shot with an intimate, empathetic eye, the film moves between tender moments with Jerry and Annie on the road, the makeshift marketplaces and communities that bloom around each stop, and ecstatic 16mm images of bodies spinning and dancing wherever the music takes them. A Deadhead himself, director Mischa Richter approaches this world from the inside, never turning his camera toward the band onstage; Summer Tour instead finds the Grateful Dead experience in the people gathered around the music and the strange, enduring culture they continue to reinvent.
At once a love story, a road movie, and a portrait of a living American tradition, Summer Tour captures the freedom, wandering, adventure, and search for belonging that have sent generations out onto the road in pursuit of the Grateful Dead’s music—and the strange, enduring power of that music to bring people together, inspire new generations, and keep the long, strange trip going.
DIRECTOR’S STATEMENT
When I was a teenager my high school sweetheart, Chloë Sevigny (Summer Tour’s producer), introduced me to the Grateful Dead. We’d sit with a boombox listening to bootleg tapes, wondering what it would be like to see the band in person. In September of 1990, the Dead played a run of shows at Madison Square Garden. We hopped the train from Connecticut to Grand Central and made our way to the Garden. We didn’t have tickets or even much money but Chloë cleverly found an unlocked door down a hallway and suddenly we were in.
The music blew me away, but what truly struck me was the community surrounding the band. It wasn’t just a concert. It was a traveling village that followed the Dead wherever they went. I was instantly hooked. For the next two years, I went to as many shows as I could, falling in love not just with the music, but with the road and the fun surrounding the community of Dead Heads.
Eventually, I moved to Europe to study art, and twenty years later returned to America. By then Jerry Garcia had been gone for over a decade yet the spirit of the Dead was alive and well. Bands were still playing from their vast catalogue and the community around the music was still thriving.
That’s when I knew I had to make a film. Summer Tour is my love letter to this enduring 60 year old tradition. A look inside the Grateful Dead experience and a celebration of the uniquely American adventure of hitting the road, chasing music and dancing. And while doing so, finding community.

All sales are final. There are no refunds for PRS events , except in the event of a medical emergency, including but not limited to a positive COVID-19 test. Ticket exchanges may be granted on a case by case basis, pending circumstances.
In the event that PRS is forced to cancel an event entirely, tickets will be refunded or vouchers offered for a rescheduled event.
PARKING
Limited parking is available onsite at PRS in both the front lot (entry from Los Feliz Blvd. when heading east), as well as street parking on Griffith Park Blvd. and (after 7 PM) on Los Feliz Blvd. We encourage attendees to consider carpooling, walking or biking to events if possible, and please be considerate of our Los Feliz neighbors when parking.
PRS EVENT POLICIES

- We encourage you to arrive at least 30 min. before the scheduled event start time to find parking, enjoy the Bookstore and take your seats.

- There is no smoking permitted on PRS grounds.
- We strongly encourage guests to wear masks to PRS events to prevent the spread of infectious diseases.
