In this 2-hour live music and restorative yoga event, Barb will lead you through a special restorative yoga practice designed to take you to a place of deep physical, mental, and emotional relaxation. Class will begin with a guided meditation leading you into a profoundly relaxing restorative yoga and pranayama practice. As each pose brings you deeper into relaxation and renewal, Jesse will take you on a sound meditation journey you will feel on all levels.
The singing bowls sound meditation features ten quartz crystal singing bowls, four Tibetan brass singing bowls, and the kalimba (African thumb piano.) The singing bowls produce long resonant tones that shift in a cloud-like manner. The sound of the bowls focuses the mind and enables the meditator to be present in the moment, practicing bare attention to “what is.” The kalimba produces a melodic sound generated by metal tynes vibrating over a small wooden box. Sound meditation is a form of nada yoga, using vibration as a transformative, healing practice.
This 2-hour live music and yoga event is suitable for all ages, body types, and experience levels. Students are welcome to bring extra pillows and blankets, eye pillows, and personal props.
When: Sunday June 23rd

About the Bowls: Singing bowls connect us to past generations and civilizations dating as far back as the Bronze Age, more than 3,000 years ago. In Buddhist practice, singing bowls are used as a signal to begin and end the meditation. In some Asian countries, singing bowls are used during chanting and may also mark the passage of time, signal a change in activity, or used in traditional ceremonies and rites. The bowls' multiphonic sound – their ability to produce multiple harmonic overtones simultaneously – is used as a healing tool by psychotherapists, massage therapists, and recovery, stress, and meditation specialists.
Today Quartz Crystal Singing and Tibetan Brass Bowls are found throughout the world both within and without spiritual traditions. Musicians like Jesse are introducing the singing bowls’ resonant tones and rich harmonics to new audiences and are used for meditation, relaxation, personal well-being and simply to just enjoy.
