Kick-off the summer season by learning about nesting shorebirds at the dynamic ecosystem of Demarest Lloyd State Park! Discover its large vegetated sand spit at the mouth of the Slocum River, where endangered shorebirds nest and a vast mudflat where shorebirds feed at low tide. The estuary, salt marsh, and forest areas nearby offer yet more bird habitat. In addition to the plovers and terns that nest on the spit, oystercatchers, willets, ospreys, and waders, are potential sightings. Held on the evening of the summer solstice, don’t miss this one!
