Join our community gathering to celebrate the Summer Solstice! Children and all ages warmly welcome. Be prepared for warm (but thankfully cloudy) weather!We're expecting a large gathering so we've removed the need to RSVP, but do click 'Going' if you plan to be with us, or put a comment below.
We'll walk to our beautiful field of wildflowers where we'll celebrate the life-giving powers of the Sun around the fire circle, and then we'll follow up with a lovely picnic.
What to bring:
-Most important is to dress for the weather. If sunny, bring sunscreen, sun hat, etc. If rainy, we will still carry on!
- Vegetarian or vegan food for your picnic (if you can bring something to share, great, but if not, just whatever you need, plus your own cutlery etc.)
- Something to sit on in circle round the fire (picnic blanket, etc or a camp chair-- we'll have a few if you don't have one but not enough for everyone).
-Note we're in a different field than previous years, so the walk is much shorter.
Where to meet:
We'll meet at the far end of the main car park around the pond. It will be busy on site because our Second Hand sale is also happening at the same time! Please be prompt because we'll leave as a group.
Midsummer has been observed for thousands of years, with celebrations rooted in both pagan and religious tradition. At a time when food and nature are in abundance, festivities often focus on fertility and the life-giving powers of the sun. We’ll talk about what the festival meant to ancient peoples and how we can connect with the energy of the seasons in our own lives today, experiencing the sacredness of the Summer Solstice through ceremony and joyful song and dance.
This is a free event as a gift from the Fold.
