House Dance: Foundations, Groove & Club Energy

Bounce. Flow. Freedom. Join us at Blazin in Edinburgh for a House dance workshop with Ashley Jack — a high-energy session rooted in social/club dance culture, musicality, and feel-good movement.

Want a summer session that feels like a proper dance-floor reset — sweaty, joyful, and full of groove?

House dance is a social/club style known for its footwork, bounce, fluidity, and connection to the music. In this workshop, Ashley will guide you through the foundations and feeling of House, with a focus on rhythm, groove, and building confidence in your movement. Expect a session that’s uplifting and playful, while still giving you clear technique and tools you can practise and come back to.

This is a chance to learn, sweat, and move in community — and to experience House not just as steps, but as a culture and a vibe.

Ashley Jack is a multi-award-winning dancer, teacher, and choreographer born and based in Edinburgh. She holds an HND in Professional Stage Dance and has trained with hip hop and House pioneers for extended periods in New York, Paris, Holland, and beyond. Ashley has danced with artists including David Guetta and Kelly Rowland, and has choreographed and performed hip hop theatre across the UK as a solo artist and with her companies MiniJackers and Jackin the Box. Deeply rooted in hip hop culture and social/club dance, she is passionate about sharing the history and foundations with her students. Ashley won Creative Edinburgh’s 2018 Independent Award and was named in The List’s Hot 100 (2019).

House dance grew from club culture and is closely connected to House music. It’s known for its bounce and groove, fast and intricate footwork, and a feeling of freedom and flow. House is social at its core — it’s about musicality, individuality, and learning foundations that help you dance with confidence in your own style.

Anyone who wants to explore House dance in a welcoming space — from curious beginners to experienced dancers who want to deepen foundations, musicality, and freestyle confidence. Especially good if you love club energy, footwork, and moving with rhythm.
