Join us for the 2026 Summer Reading Kickoff at the Bismarck Veterans Memorial Public Library. This all-ages event will feature exciting activities with a variety of partners, including North Dakota's Gateway to Science, Northern Plains Dance, Dakota Zoo, North Dakota Mineral Resources Department, North Dakota Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), and Burleigh County Library, as well as special guest readers.New this year, Friends of the Bismarck Public Library's Bookmark Design Contest will take place during the summer! Dig into your creativity with a design that explores the hidden world beneath the surface.
The kickoff will be a good time to begin logging your Summer Reading Challenge minutes. It’s a perfect start to a season filled with imagination and fun! Through Beanstack, participants of all ages can track their reading and complete the challenge throughout the summer. By logging reading time, earning badges, and completing activities, you not only win prizes but also uncover the joy of creative discovery all summer long.
Please note this event takes place outside, weather permitting.
