Summer Nights Sock Hop - The Ultimate '50s and '60s Retro Dance and Karaoke party

Break out the leather jackets and poodle skirts and get ready to shake, rattle, and roll! For its third annual Retro Party, Alliance for the Arts is taking guests back to the ’50s and ’60s with Summer Nights Sock Hop, a retro dance and karaoke party on Saturday, September 19, 2026, from 8:00–11:00 PM at 10091 McGregor Blvd. in Fort Myers.
The annual celebration has become a chance for the Alliance community to travel through the decades together. The series launched with an ’80s vs. ’90s Dance & Karaoke Party, followed by a ’70s Dance & Karaoke Party in 2025. This year, the Alliance is going even further back with an evening inspired by classic sock hops, rock ’n’ roll and the golden age of Grease.
Inspired by the classic sock hops of the 1950s and ’60s, Summer Nights Sock Hop will spread the party across two spaces at the Alliance, giving guests the chance to dance the night away, grab the microphone, and join their fellow partygoers for a special Grease sing-along.
In the Alliance Gallery, a live DJ will keep the dance floor moving with a mix of rock ’n’ roll, doo-wop, Motown, and other favorites from the era. Guests can twist, stroll, and swing the night away, and even learn the Hand Jive before putting their new moves to the test.
Meanwhile, the Foulds Theatre becomes karaoke central, with guests invited to take the stage and sing their favorite songs throughout the evening. Karaoke will intermingle with a special group Grease sing-along, turning the theatre into a Rydell High reunion for some of the musical’s most memorable numbers.
Volunteer T-Birds and Pink Ladies will lead the way as the audience joins together to sing along. Whether guests know every word or simply want to follow along on the screen, the experience is designed to be communal, lively and a little theatrical.
Retro attire is encouraged, so dig into the closet for leather jackets, poodle skirts, rolled-up jeans, saddle shoes, and other ’50s and ’60s-inspired looks. Guests can dress to the theme or simply come ready to dance, sing, and enjoy the nostalgia.
