About this Event

The Summer Leadership Academy offers school board members and district leaders a focused, budget‑friendly way to build practical skills over two in‑person sessions. Shaped by school directors, each training gives you tools you can use right away.

Join us for two days of learning:

Friday, August 21, 2026 • 3:00–5:30 PM (choose one)

1. Deciphering the District Budget (read description)
2. Advancing Incusion through Belonging (read description)

• Optional networking dinner near the WSSDA office at 6 pm.

Saturday, August 22, 2026 • 9:30 AM – 12:00 PM (choose one)

1. NEW Serving as a Board Chair (read description)
2. Discovering Educational Disparities (read description)

Location: WSSDA Office, 225 College Street NE Olympia

Cost: $90 per session

Refunds: Full refund available up until 7 days before each training.

Lodging: We have a hotel block reserved for Friday, August 21, for $175/night at the Hampton Inn & Suites Olympia Lacey. If you'd like to join this room block, you'll receive the booking link after registering.

Credit: Both equity trainings (Advancing Inclusion through Belonging and Discovering Educational Disparities) count toward the state professional development requirement on educational equity for school board members. You will receive a certificate for your records.

Please note that participants are responsible for tracking and maintaining their own professional development documentation.
