Music Royale's Student Summer Jazz Jam is an exclusive summer music program designed for advanced students of all ages who are passionate about jazz music and are ready to take the stage! Students will experience how to play in a jazz jam session in the context of a real band.Focusing on Standards, students will increase their skills and confidence in playing melodies and improvising over chord changes with the guidance of experienced jazz musicians to coach them every step of the way. At the end of the program, the students will showcase what they have learned by playing a live “gig” as part of Music Royale's 24th Birthday Festival on Sunday, July 12th. Details:
1. The Summer Jazz Jam will consist of 5 consecutive weeks of rehearsals, each 90 minutes long. Rehearsals will take place at Music Royale on Wednesday evenings from 7:00pm to 8:30pm, beginning Wednesday, June 10th.
2. A live performance will be held at Music Royale on the afternoon of Sunday, July 12th during Music Royale's 24th Birthday Bash.
3. Attendance is imperative for a successful experience. Please do not sign up if you are not available on the performance date.
4. Students will be expected to work with their private instructors to learn their assigned parts before that week’s class.
5. Due to the extent of work that goes into scheduling this camp, these times and dates cannot be changed.
6. Total cost is $250.
Open to advanced-level students of all ages for piano, bass, drum set, guitar, voice, trumpet, saxophone, clarinet, flute and trombone.
