The “Summer Jam” FREE concert series returns to Earl Bales Park this summer with four exciting and eclectic double-bills on alternating Monday evenings. This year’s series kicks off with dynamic husband and wife team Eric Lindberg and Doni Zasloff of NY-based Jewish Americana group Nefesh Mountain. Their “Storytellers” duo performance takes listeners on an intimate journey blending bluegrass, folk, jazz, and blues with heartfelt Jewish spirit. They’ll be followed by Toronto’s own Duke Street Turnaround, performing the music of the legendary hippie bluegrass band Old and in the Way. Featuring Jerry Garcia on banjo, along with David Grisman, Vassar Clements, Peter Rowan and John Kahn, Old and in the Way’s distinctive approach bridged genres and audiences with an eclectic repertoire including traditional staples, original songs, and bluegrass reworkings of rock and pop hits. Their lone album release in 1975 was the best-selling bluegrass album of all-time prior to the soundtrack of the film “O Brother Where Art Thou” in 2000.
