Seven day summer programme to prepare participants with a rooted grounding and overview understanding of Muslim Theology, Education, Philosophy, History, Politics, Science, Art, Economics and Spirituality.

Aims, objectives and outcomes and who is for and what is about and why? Most summer Islamic School programmes are aimed at those already studying Islamic Studies at University or post graduation with a particular focus. However there is lack of a generic summer programme focussing less on rituals and more looking at the broader Muslim civilisational experience for post-secondary or tertiary education and even STEM students and professionals who usually miss out in any summer activities. With this in mind, we aimed to achieve the following:

  1. Reaffirm Project Islam: Based on the famous hadith of Jibril as on 'Islam, Eeman and Ehsan' representing the three fundamental dimensions of the Islamic faith.
  2. Islam as a Civilization faith - Provide a brief overview on 'Islam as a Civilizational' experience
  3. Rooted spiritually and intellectually - To ground the delegate to be proud of 'Islam as a Civilisation' and appreciate the cosmopolitan nature and diversity but rooted in an spiritual-intellectual tradition.
  4. Contemporary Issues - Challenges of Muslims today both within the faith communities and with those outside of the faith

The programme is primarily aimed at the following:

  1. Post high-school to pre-university [Ages 16-19]
  2. STEM undergraduates or graduates / STEM professionals / grads or undergraduates of all ages.
  3. Anyone with time on their hands and not going to 'Dubai' or feels 'Dubai' is NOT the best Muslims can aspire to, and with staycation the norm this year, would like to learn more about Islamic Civilisation as a lived experience beyond dogma.

However it is open for ALL - Undergraduates of all ages and all professions.

Taught subjects are following: Islamic History; Islamic Theology; Islamic Spirituality; Science and Islam; Islamic Economics and Finance; Rise of the West and the Modern World; Islamic Education - Purpose, Philosophy and Institutions; Islamic Politics - Pre-modern and today; Islamic Art and Architecture; Gender and Sexuality and Relationships to Marriage and Family: Between Red Pill to Feminism: Islamic Cultural Creative Tradition and Theatre; Islam & Modernity;

Special events on the following: Islamphobia, Media and Politics and Sunni-Shia relations and Quran translations, reading of 'Musalsalat' hadith with ijazah.

Special artistic events include: Live Ottoman 'oud' makamat performance with explanation; Exhibition of West African Islamic Manuscripts; Special Screening of Film(to be confirmed)
