Summer Focus Courses
Because the beach is for the weekend.
New in 2026, our summer short courses give you the time, space and feedback to improve your improv skills, plus the opportunity to meet and improvise with members of the AndAlso community from other classes and nights of the week. These five-week courses sit outside our core syllabus, allowing you to build skills you can use in many different improv and performance contexts. Each course finishes with an informal showcase to an audience of family and friends.
You can expect focused sessions, plenty of stage time, and clear, practical feedback. As well as all the laughter guaranteed from an evening with AndAlso improv.
Summer Focus: Super Short Form with Juwel Huque
Nearly everyone knows the classic improv games - shift left, three-headed expert, the alphabet game. These solid, reliable structures mean even the newest of players can get onstage and entertain an audience. They are perfect for beginners and jams.
But these games have so much more to offer. Done with energy and precision, shortform improvisation is exacting for the player, accessible and delightful for the audience.
Over five classes and a showcase, this course will help you play fast and instinctively, embracing both the smart and the stupid. You’ll explore timing, clarity and escalation, how to frame games, support your scene partners, and keep these games fresh and exciting, no matter how many times you play them.
And then you’ll get to change the rules of the games, just to see what happens.
This course is perfect for those who has done some improv before, and want to build their performance confidence in a fun, supportive environment.
This course finishes with a voluntary end-of-term showcase directed by your teacher, Juwel Haque, at the Lantern Theatre on Wednesday, 26th August.
