Summer Carillon Festival feat. Julie Zhu

The Summer Carillon Festival continues in 2026 for three Sunday evenings in June. These 45-minute concerts take place on the front lawn of St. Paul’s. In case of rain, we move inside to Tucker Hall. They are intended as informal concerts where you are encouraged to bring a lawn chair or a blanket to sit on, and, if you like, a picnic to eat during the concert.
On Sunday, June 7, we present carillonist Julie Zhu, assistant professor of Performing Arts Technology at the University of Michigan. As a composer, she has been commissioned by Radio France, Dark Music Days Reykjavík, Sansusi Latvia, and Chamber Music America. As a carillonist, she plays frequently at the University of Michigan and was the resident carillonneur at St. Thomas, Fifth Avenue. Dr. Zhu offers a four-part program this Sunday: Preludes, Laments, Jazz Standards, and “For My Parents.”
