Southside Theatre Guild’s Southside Sidekick’s proudly present: SUMMER BLOCKBUSTER — An Improvised Action Movie!
On June 27th, the fate of cinema is in YOUR hands as our cast creates a completely improvised action movie franchise live onstage. The audience will help create the entire universe from scratch — from naming the franchise, to inventing the unstoppable hero, to giving them the kind of catchphrase that absolutely must be whispered before an explosion in slow motion.
But one movie is never enough.
That’s when Director Lees steps in to milk the franchise for every last over-the-top sequel imaginable, using your suggestions. Maybe the hero suddenly has to save the world from danger ON A TROPICAL ISLAND. Maybe the gritty action series becomes a heartfelt musical for absolutely no reason. Maybe there’s a sequel set in space. Maybe there’s a long-lost evil twin. Maybe every problem can somehow be solved by hacking into “the mainframe.” Maybe a celebrity cameo appears. None of it can happen without you in the audience and you helping!
Expect impossible stunts, dramatic sunglasses removal, suspiciously large explosions, car chases that defy physics, one-liners delivered while walking away from fire, villains with mysterious accents, emotional flashbacks, unnecessary training montages, and at least one person nervously laughing because they don't know what to say next.
