Join in for a night of meditative marbling at Grimm Artisanal Ales in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, learn a new creative skill, and leave with a collection of marbled papers 🌀 Sign up today and explore the mesmerizing paper marbling process.

Suminagashi translates to "floating ink" or "spilled ink" and in this workshop, you'll paint with ink on water, using breath to create your designs, and leave with a collection of handmade notecards and envelopes. Led by Kelly Laughlin, artist, meditation teacher, writer, and founder of Odette Press, you'll be guided through a short introduction to the history and materials, then settle in for the paper marbling process. "So relaxing," and "wow" our attendees often say.

This nature-inspired process is great for anyone looking for an inspiring, creative experience. Truly a meditative experience, come calm a frazzled nervous system and drop out of a busy mind as you step into creative flow for the evening. Show up alone, and have an art date with yourself, or bring a friend! Your ticket includes your first drink from the Grimm bar.

the flow:

Find your seat and grab a drink* from the Grimm bar. Turn on your creativity in a brief conversation. Then, explore the marbling process: you'll be guided through a short demonstration of the process, and dive into making your own marbled papers. Meditate on color, ink, and paper, leave with a collection of one of a kind marbled papers, and leave with new connections with other curious, creative humans.

refunds: Requests for full refunds can be made up to 48 hours of the event. Requests made between 48 - 24 hours of the event are eligible for Eventbrite credit for a future event. Any requests made within 24 hours of the event start time or after the event are not eligible for workshop credit or refund. Tickets may be transferred to another attendee.

the space: This workshop takes place at high top tables in the taproom at Grimm Artisanal Ales. No stairs. Follow along @OdettePress for more classes!
