Learn how to paint Botanicals in the Japanese Sumi e Style. Use Bamboo brushes, Sumi ink & lots of Colour!
Have a Sunday of culture with Floating Art. Let us teach you all about Japanese Sumi-e painting and learn how to paint beautiful Botanicals with us.
In Chinese culture it is common for people to complete brush paintings with auspicious intent.
In this workshop you will complete more than one painting, this workshop will be broken down into three sections, each will begin with a demonstration by Ula our teacher. We will start with something more simple to help you get used to the material and 'Warm up' You will then move into something more complicated and your final piece will be painted onto a Rice Paper board. You will also learn a little bit about sealing your painting. We will bring along some of our seasonal stamps and discuss how stamps are used to 'Seal' the painting.
Whether you're an aspiring artist looking for a new challenge or you've always wanted to learn how to paint, you'll love this creative workshop experience. it's suitable for all levels. This workshop is taught by our founder Ula Fung who is a local artist with over 15 years of teaching experience. after each demonstration she will oversee the group and be there to help you with your work.
This workshop is located in a private room at GRUB, a fantastic events space within walking distance of Manchester City Centre where drink & food will be available to purchase before, during and after the worlshop.
Knowledge required
• Beginner friendly - all levels welcome.
Materials (all provided)
• Sumi ink and mineral paint paint on rice paper.
What you'll get:
• All of the equipment and materials needed for your class.
• Protective equipment such as aprons.
What to bring
• Comfortable clothes that you don't mind getting a little paint on.
• A carrying bag for take your artworks home.
