"Front Royal and Warren County has always been a supportive community! In recent years, we have lost many young lives due to the tragedy of suicide. Suicide is a complex and devastating event with far-reaching consequences, affecting individuals, families, and communities. When reflecting on September being Suicide Awareness Month, I asked myself if we were doing enough to support our local children and families who are struggling with mental health issues. The Hike Kidz Foundation was the perfect partner in organizing this event with me because they share the same goal to raise awareness and promote healing and resources. Our community NEEDS this walk to not only raise awareness and to share resources available, but to foster a supportive community for mental health. We encourage all local mental health providers and organizations to join us as we launch the first “Hope Takes Flight” Suicide Awareness walk. We invite everyone in the community, young and old, to come together and walk with us for a morning of hope, healing, and connection to raise awareness and support for suicide prevention." - Mayor Lori Cockrell
Please share and help us launch this much needed walk or ride of awareness. It’s for prevention and it’s for our community to learn and heal.
