“They do zikr of Allah standing, sitting and reclining, and contemplate the wisdom of the creation of the heavens and the earth.” (3:191)About this Event
One of the most treasured practices of the Sufi path is zikr, the remembrance of Allah. To be in unity with Allah is to be in a constant state of remembrance of the source of all creation. In the sense that unity is the deepest state of surrender to Allah, this is the true zikr, and is the goal of the Sufi path. As a means to achieve that state, zikr as a ritualized practice was bequeathed to students of tasawwuf (Sufism) by Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).
Sufism is the spiritual/ mystical path of Islam. During the Zikr (the ceremony of remembrance) we practice some simple movements accompanied by frame drumming, hymn singing and chanting. In Zikr, each member of the group effaces him or herself in the remembrance of God using the energy of the entire group synergistically for the development of all.
We start at 19:15 with the group zikr for about one hour.
We welcome everyone who comes in peace. The Zikr is free but a donation to help with the venue hire would be greatly appreciated.
We hope to see you soon.
