Succulents are one of the world's versatile plants, with striking colors and unique forms. The word succulent comes from the Latin word sucus, meaning “juice” or “sap," and they thrive in sunny, well-drained areas with very little maintenance. In this class, we'll make wreaths using succulents - great for decorating trellises, arbors, an outdoor table (a nice wide candle in the center would look great) and fences, or if you can even think outside the box and lay it on a stump or unused birdbath! We will use a heavy, duty wireframe coated in plastic (one that can be used over and over for years) lined with Oregon moss and planted with pansies. Oregon moss is thick, which makes it outstanding for cohesion, unlike other moss varieties - you'll even be able to bring this inside during the winter! Please note: The moss will be wet while students are working with it. Although not required, consider bringing rubber gardening gloves to enhance your class experience.
