About this Event
We gardeners talk about Right Plant Right Place but what about Wrong Plant Wrong Place? That description sums up invasive plants. Invasive plants are aggressive, non-native plants that take over the landscape, provide little if any benefit and push out more beneficial plants. We will discuss the common invasive plants you can still purchase at nurseries and big box stores and the invasive plants that may already be in your landscape, whether you planted them or not. How do you identify these plants? How do you remove these plants? And, if necessary, what are good replacements for these plants? This may feel like a depressing topic, but with every invasive plant you eradicate, you control the spread and make room for more beneficial plants in your landscape.
Our speaker, Kristyna Culp, is an Extension Master Gardener Volunteer and the Director of Habitat Builders, a local chapter of the NCWF. Habitat Builders hosts several invasive plant removal workshops every year, where hundreds of volunteers have learned to identify and remove invasive plants.
