Hello everyone, I am eager to hike this trail, and would like some company. Here are the details from Alltrails: 3.3mi - 682ft Elevation gain. 1.5–2hr Estimated time, Out & back.
The trail from Chantry Flat to Sturtevant Falls has been a popular hike for those wanting to escape the urban sprawl of Los Angeles since the early 1900's. You quickly feel like you’re in a forested wonderland, with Santa Anita Creek by your side. The trailhead is easily accessible from the 210 freeway. Take the Santa Anita Avenue north until you reach the Chantry Flat parking area. Due this trail’s easy access from Los Angeles, and the relative ease of the hike, this trailhead gets extremely busy. It’s recommended to visit either in the morning or on weekdays. After a slight descent through the lush San Gabriel Mountains, you’ll reach the fifty-foot waterfall. Along the way, you’ll pass several manmade waterfalls and cabins from over a hundred years ago. The way back is an enjoyable incline, making for an interesting hike. You will need a National Forest Adventure Pass to park. These passes can be bought at REI, USFS offices, or the Adam’s Pack Station at the trailhead.
