Join us at 3:00 pm at B’nai Sholom Congregation in Huntington, WV for Stumbling Stones, a powerful one-person play about our own congregant, John Rosenberg. The play weaves John’s story as a Jewish child in Nazi Germany with his later work as a civil rights lawyer in the American South and in the mountains of Eastern Kentucky. It explores themes of memory, justice, tikkun olam, and what it means to build a Jewish life after surviving unimaginable hatred. We follow John from Kristallnacht to the courtroom, to his and Jean’s decision to make Prestonsburg their home and to spend more than fifty years standing with the people of Appalachia through AppalReD Legal Aid.
The performance will be followed by a talkback with John and Jean Rosenberg, offering a rare chance to ask questions and reflect together as a community.
This event is free and open to all—no tickets, no reservations, just come and be part of the conversation.
