Join Kat Kyle Balmos, owner of The Local, Lot 59 & Heritage Supply as she addresses the important topic of working with creatives, artists, jewlery makers, graphic t shirt designers and other idea people.
Some, not all, creatives typically are not comfortable with selling & marketing themselves much less their art/product. It's very personal. They love and thrive in the creative space, but moving pieces and product into a retail enviornment is foreign to them. Putting your art "out there" to be chosen and bought is scary for some. Instagram and other platforms are powerful tools for selling your goods, but it misses the side where they get to touch it, hold it, try it on and see it up close.
Specialty brick and mortar retail continues its comeback as more and more people want that in-person experience mixed in with their on-line favorites. Shopping is entertainment and having your product in front of the right demographic can prove to be a strong businees opportunity. Imagine creating what you love everyday and being paid to do that.
As a 40 year retail veteran, Kat will go into detail about what creatives need to know to take the step out of the studio and into the public space.
