Demystifying My Artistic Process
Fiber Artist Joanne Grabinski will give a brief overview of her process, while demonstrating on an artwork-in-progress so attendees arriving can see her equipment, tools, materials, and work process. She will share a few completed artworks, and respond to questions and comments from attendees.
C Joanne Grabinski is an improvisational fiber artist who uses the materials, tools, equipment and techniques of needlepoint to create one-of-a-kind nonrepresentational/nonobjective abstract artworks. Color and geometric shapes are key design elements and most of her designs evolve as she stitches. Preparing to leave her 30+ year career in higher education at the end of 2010, she made the intentional choice to pursue two new career path--artist and creative writer. Her artworks have been in both juried and invited exhibitions at Studio 23, Creative 360, Artworks, 515 Gallery, Art Reach, University Art Gallery-CMU, Park Library-CMU, Oliver Art Center, and Glen Arbor Arts Center. Her 5-piece "A Wheel & 4 Triads" was acquired as part of Interlochen Center for the Arts' permanent art collection and hangs in the Mallory-Towsley Center for Arts Leadership.
