How do we remember, preserve, and share the stories that shape our communities? Join SCMA and Weaving Voices for an exploration of the stories, histories, and voices of students of color at Smith through a showcase of previous senior monologues. Together, we will celebrate the voices and experiences held within Weaving Voices and consider how art, storytelling, and creative expression can keep these histories alive. We will also have a zine and button-making activity and a communal loom as we reflect, create, and imagine new ways of sharing our stories!
The Weaving Voices Archives Project (https://sites.smith.edu/weaving-voices-archives/) was started in the fall of 2012. Its purpose is to document and make public the histories of students of color on Smith’s campus, with a focus on recording past and present student activism and promoting communal healing.
About Cromwell Day
This event is in partnership with Cromwell Day. Cromwell Day is an annual Smith College tradition honoring Otelia Cromwell, its first African American graduate, by dedicating time to reflection and education on diversity, racism, and inclusion.
