His career is punctuated by risky, creative endeavors, from designing the 2002 Oscar “Million Dollar Shoes” adorned with 464 diamonds for actress Laura Harring, to selling his company to Coach (now Tapestry) for $574 million in 2015 while remaining chief designer.
