Stronger Core, Stronger You: Pelvic Health for Vulva Owners
Leaking when you jump? Feeling pressure during heavy lifts? You’re not alone—and it’s not something you just have to “deal with.”
This workshop is designed specifically for vulva owners. We’ll break down what’s really happening with your pelvic floor during your workouts and give you simple, practical tools to build connection to your pelvic floor, prevent symptoms, and feel more in control of your body.
Expect real talk, zero judgment, and actionable tips you can use right away in the gym.
In this workshop, we’ll cover:
What the pelvic floor is
A simple, easy-to-understand look at where it lives in your body and the key role it plays in bladder and bowel control, core stability, and movement—especially during lifting and high-intensity workouts.
What pelvic floor therapy is and who it helps
An overview of what pelvic floor therapy actually looks like and who may benefit. We’ll discuss common concerns like leaking, pressure, discomfort, and core weakness—and why these issues are both common and treatable.
How the pelvic floor changes across life stages
Learn how pregnancy, postpartum recovery, and the menopause transition can impact pelvic floor function, including the role of hormones and why symptoms may show up during training.
Simple, practical strategies you can use right away
Walk away with tools like 360-degree breathing, better pressure management, posture and movement tweaks, and healthy bladder and bowel habits that support your performance in and out of the gym.
Dara Clauson (she/her) is an Occupational Therapist specializing in pelvic floor therapy, with over 17 years of clinical experience across long-term care, inpatient rehabilitation, and home-based therapy. Her holistic approach is deeply informed by both this broad clinical background and her personal experience recovering from a birth injury, allowing her to provide highly practical, individualized care in your own environment.
She has pursued a breadth of advanced pelvic health training including the Herman & Wallace Pelvic Floor Level 1 course, OT Pioneers, the Level 1 Functional Pelvic Health Practitioner Certification, and is working on a Level 2 program for Trauma Informed Pelvic Health Certification. This depth of education supports thorough, evidence-informed evaluation and high-quality treatment.
When she's not working, she enjoys life with her husband and two daughters, playing board games, curling up with a good book, and knitting. Depending on the time of year you can also see her outside in her dahlia patch and vegetable garden, or spending time on the slopes.
