Strong Fathers, Supported Families: Autism & Black Dads Conference to Take Place April 4 in Capitol Heights
Capitol Heights, MD — April 4, 2026 — A one-day conference dedicated to uplifting and supporting Black fathers raising autistic children will take place on Saturday, April 4, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM at Trinidad Baptist Church, located at 6611 Walker Mill Road, Capitol Heights, MD 20743.
Strong Fathers, Supported Families: Autism & Black Dads, presented by Anthony Tilghman, creates a culturally affirming space where Black fathers can gain practical tools, strengthen advocacy skills, prioritize mental health, and connect with other fathers navigating similar journeys.
Conference topics include:
· Practical guidance on autism and diagnosis
· School advocacy and IEP support
· Mental health and wellness for Black fathers
· Community-based and Maryland-specific resources
“Black fathers are deeply involved in their children’s lives, but too often they are excluded from autism conversations,” said Anthony Tilghman, presenter and community advocate. “This conference is about changing that — creating space where fathers are informed, supported, and respected.”
The event is open to Black fathers, families, caregivers, advocates, and service providers committed to culturally responsive support.
