Casa Arjona is proud to present an extraordinary evening of Brazilian music featuring two internationally acclaimed artists: Ian Coury, one of Brazil's most celebrated young mandolin virtuosos, and Marcel Camargo, Grammy-nominated guitarist, composer, arranger, and producer.
A master of the Brazilian 10-string mandolin (bandolim), Ian Coury has been recognized as one of the leading voices of Brazil's vibrant choro tradition. After sharing the stage with Brazilian legends Armandinho and Hamilton de Holanda at just 12 years old, Ian has gone on to perform with renowned artists including Paquito D'Rivera, Claudio Roditi, and Toninho Horta. Raised in Brasília and educated at Berklee College of Music, he combines breathtaking virtuosity with deep respect for Brazil's rich musical heritage.
Joining him is acclaimed Los Angeles-based guitarist Marcel Camargo, whose career has taken him around the world performing, arranging, and producing alongside artists such as Michael Bublé, Sérgio Mendes, Herb Alpert, Jason Mraz, Gretchen Parlato, and Macy Gray. His guitar can also be heard in films including Rio 2 and Pitch Perfect 3, as well as television productions such as Dexter. Marcel's music seamlessly blends Brazilian rhythms, jazz, and contemporary influences with exceptional artistry and warmth.
Together, Ian and Marcel create an intimate and captivating musical conversation, celebrating the beauty of Brazilian instrumental music through choro, samba, jazz, and original compositions.
