Description: Back by popular demand! MCEE is offering a teacher workshop in Mississippi on the economics of music and how to properly guide students interested in music as a career. The workshop will be held at The Delta Blues Museum in Clarksdale, MS. The lesson plans for this workshop were awarded a Platinum award by the National Association of Economic Educators (NAEE) earlier this year. For this workshop, MCEE will leverage the appeal of music to:
Help teachers teach about Mississippi's rich musical heritage.
Show students various ways music and economics overlap, especially as they relate to career options.
For: 6-12 grade teachers with priority given to teachers from the following counties: Bolivar, Coahoma, DeSoto, Leflore, Marshall, Panola, Quitman, Sunflower, Tallahatchie, Tate and Tunica. This workshop will be most beneficial to 6-12 teachers of music, college and career readiness, and economics. Due to the advanced instruction that takes place in the elementary gifted classroom, these teachers will also benefit from the materials presented.
