The next ‘New Tampa Jazz Nights’ concert presents ‘OVERJOYED – A STEVIE WONDER TRIBUTE,’ at the New Tampa Performing Arts Center on Saturday, March 28 at 8pm. Featuring STRETCH’S RUBBERBAND, led by pianist Richard ‘Stretch’ Bruyn, this show has drawn sellout crowds at area venues in recent years. The Jazz Nights series, now in it’s 3rd season, is produced by the Center and the Tampa Jazz Club. Stevie Wonder’s remarkable career has spanned six decades and given the world a striking body of music, influencing and inspiring listeners around the world. ‘OVERJOYED’ is a 2-hour journey through Stevie’s greatest songs, filled with insights into his artistic journey.
And this is just the right band to deliver your Stevie Wonder favorites. Stretch Bruyn has been a prominent part of the Bay Area jazz scene for more than 20 years, and formed the RUBBERBAND in 2019. He’ll be joined by:
KIRSTEN JOYER, vocals
AL HURLEY, electric bass
JOE BENCOMO, drums
And Special Guest, PATRICK BETTISON, who has the perfect harmonica sound for these ‘wonderful’ tunes.
