About this Event
Date: 29 April 2026, 9.30am-3.30pm.
Location: Scale Liverpool
Audience: Leaders and decision‑makers from Liverpool’s public and third sectors
Common Ground brings together senior leaders in health and social care from across Liverpool’s public and third sectors. For the first time commissioners, providers, community delivery partners and strategic leads will be in the same room to have open, practical conversations about how we reduce duplication, fill gaps and start to find stronger ways to work together.
Confirmed panel members include:
- Matt Ashton, Director of Public Health, Liverpool City Council.
- Anne-Marie Lubanski, Deputy Chief Executive, Corporate Director of Adult Social Care and Health, Liverpool City Council.
- Jenny Glennard, Corporate Director of Children’s and Young People’s Services, Liverpool City Council.
- Plus senior representatives from across Liverpool’s local NHS and third sector organisations.
Like many cities, Liverpool is dealing with increasing demand and with this, increasing pressure on public services. Resources are stretched and needs are high, and this makes the effective use of time, energy and money a real challenge for the public sector.
Alongside this, the city has a strong, skilled and creative third sector, working deep within neighbourhoods, employing thousands of local people and continuing Liverpool’s long tradition of innovation and social action.
Together we can do so much more to help the public sector by holding and sharing the pressure. But first we must properly recognise its role and build this creative thinking into how the city plans, commissions and delivers services. Moving away from short‑term fixes and last minute grants, and towards lasting strategic partnerships grown from trust and truly equal relationships.
This event is all about stepping back from the day to day and talking openly about what’s working, what isn’t, and where the real opportunities for change lie. It’s about getting to know each other, understanding the pressures and realities of different roles, building connections and starting to develop a shared plan for the future. Together, we can build a system where public and third sector collaboration is the norm and every pound invested works harder for the city we all love.
What is Well Placed?
Well Placed is a collaborative group that brings together strategic leaders from Liverpool’s third sector health, wellbeing and care providers.
Why attend?
If you’re involved in shaping health and social care in Liverpool, Common Ground is a chance to pause and think about how our public and third sector work together.
Away from the usual pressures of the day job we want to open up conversations that lead to stronger relationships and hopefully clearer, practical ways of working differently in the future.
We all know prevention works best before problems escalate and before plans are locked in. The third sector is already doing this work every day and bringing in their expertise earlier isn’t a ‘nice extra’, done well it can reduce demand on statutory services and help public money go further.
