Monique Akanbi, SHRM-CP, is the SHRM Membership Initiatives Director for California and co-host of SHRM’s Honest HR Podcast activating SHRM's comprehensive strategy and initiatives by developing and implementing strategies to attract, retain, and maximize the satisfaction of the over 330,000 members and communities SHRM serves. As a strategic change agent, with 20 years of broad-based experience in all aspects of HR in both the public and private sectors, in various HR leadership roles, including Vice-President of People & Culture. Monique has been credited with decreasing employee turnover, increasing employee engagement & satisfaction, and improving organizational culture. Monique is also a Master Examiner and Mentor with the Sterling Council Board of Examiners, visiting organizations throughout the Southeast Region across all industries to assess their leadership system and organizational performance through the National Malcolm Baldrige Performance Excellence model.
